The attempt of the Senate to withdraw troops from Iraq makes me yearn for the days of Lyndon Johnson as majority leader. To say the least Johnson new what power was, how to get it, and how to use it. To watch the pathetic efforts of Harry Reid, knowing that he is totally wrong in what he is attempting to do and watching him flounder in a sea of incompetence leaves one with a sense of emptiness and an inability to feel empathy or have any way of putting him out of his misery. I am not saying that I approve of the Democrats actions or that I approve of Lyndon Johnson, but he did get things done. Often times, like FDR what he accomplished was at the expense of freedom and was totally self-serving. Remember the 1954 amendment to ban all non profit groups from engaging in election activity. This was Johnson's way of silencing his opponents, two powerful anti-communist organizations, and securing his own re-election. We are beginning to do it right in Iraq. Not perfect, but we are going on the offensive. Still there is no substitute for victory and for my part, I would like to see "Unconditional Surrender" as our objective. There is no religion of peace, it is an ideology of hatred and conquest. Maybe Sen.Kennedy will charge them with hate crimes. I tend to be more aggressive. I would, upon each attack on the United States, bomb a mosque to the ground, starting with Saudi Arabia.
